Mission Statement of The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Chattanooga

The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga is to develop women’s health advocates whom are excellent physicians specializing in the health and the well-being of all females across the age spectrum.

Our residents receive four years of comprehensive training in general obstetrics and gynecology as well as significant exposure to subspecialists in Gynecologic Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and Women’s Ambulatory Health Care.

We believe the best training for our residents comes from our strong clinical program, high surgical volume, and clinical and basic science research opportunities, provided in a professional environment of learning and education.  Our attending physicians lead by example, providing evidence-based healthcare.   Teamwork is paramount to obtaining our success.  We believe in working toward our shared goals and these take precedence over our personal goals.  We are not satisfied with mediocrity as such we strive for the betterment of ourselves and team, in the delivery of the highest quality women’s healthcare.   At the completion of our program, our residents graduate prepared to be leaders in women’s health as specialist in general obstetrics  and gynecology or to further academic pursuits of subspecialty training.
